how you have the patience to go through each of these videos is beyond me.
one would just simply think that it is common sense that you should most definately take into consideration the dog's feelings.
all of these dogs, so much tolerance and patience!
and the guardians...oh gosh, i just want to whack them..(i'll settle with rolling my eyes).
it's scary to think of what might happen to the babies if the dogs just finally had enough.
far too many people say 'oh, but it didn't happen' and ' my dog gets along with kids' far too many times and without anything solid really, to back themselves up.
it's not about whether it happened or not, or whether your dog is trained day after day or not.
it's about people NOT doing things to aggravate their pets or provoke 'bad' behaviour from their pets.
the possibility of a pet just laying there, trying to control itself is of course greater than hurting a child, in most cases, but i would rather be on wary and discourage children 'annoying' the pets, rather than just 'push the dogs' buttons'. the risk is far too great!
watching some of these clips that you've found, i've noticed that our rather large black retriever displays these behaviours towards my boyfriend's young nephews lately, which really, isn't surprising as all the boys are pretty rowdy. the boys are well educated in dog behaviour (dogs...not cats just yet, the poor cat will run away at the sound of their pitter patter and will remain 'invisible' for the rest of their visit)and they do know when to stay away and they're never alone or too close to the dog without either one of us adults nearby but with a dog who's pretty big and heavy and 3 young boys under the age of 6- you can never be too careful!
and our dog is actually well trained and well socialised,lol, but dogs get irritated too and they want alone time just like us and we just have to learn their languange and respect them.
it's a really good thing that you have going on here with the site. i ran into it while looking for some more information about pet/family relationships for our pets.it's also very effective and very informative( good and bad visual examples of human behaviour towards some very tolerant pets, combined with the 'summary word-up').
